Good news for anyone attending the Olympics in Beijing: Spitting has dropped from 8.4% in 2005 to 4.9% this year! While the venues for the 2008 Olympic Games are nearly completed, Chinese officials are still weary of "uncivilized society" in China. Although there have been efforts to eradicate this behavior since 1934, look out for line cutting, bad language, littering, and spitting. If you are especially frightened of flying phlegm, remain optimistic - spit bags are being distributed.
