Tuesday the 21st kicked off the 30th Annual Cascade Cycling Classic in Bend, OR. This year, Bend also is home to the road and time trial National Championships, which means one less flight!! This year's race started with a brand-new course; one crafted for the sprinters. It appeared it may end in a vicious sprint, as I was bringing Gina to Tibco and Lipsmackers' leadout train. I rotated out, as Erinne rotated through, and Evelyn was the final leadout, taking off like a jetplane and establishing a sizeable gap. There was a definite but confused lull in the field before Valueact decided to respond. Evie held it off for a giant W, claiming the first yellow jersey of the 30th CCC. The first stage also held two Hot Spot Sprints which we led Gina out for, and with more of those points in the finish, Gina was tied for the green jersey. There was a single Queen of the Mountain competition which Rebecca did a wicked lead-out for, and I was able to grab the polka-dot jersey. It was a long and hot stage, but we made the most of it.
