You know it's going to be a good ride when the route is planned around stops for cappuccinos and cookies. The morning started off with homemade scones and Stumptown coffee at Chellie and Tim's. Then Tim busted out the map and pinpointed the destinations for good eats. My request of the day was to avoid pavement as much as possible, which we easily accomplished. We rode our trusty cross steeds up 4-mile canyon to Wall Street, hopped on the Switzerland trail up to Gold Hill for ham and cheese croissants and down Sunshine. The Switzerland trail was wicked; railroad grade and perfect terrain for cross bikes. The Gold Hill Country store was loaded with a myriad of yummies and I was faced with the difficult decision of a ham and cheese croissant or a cinnamon roll. I chose the croissant for the protein.
We were tentatively planning to also ride to Ward because they make some splenderific cookies. But we grew tired from singing at the top of our lungs. Seriously - Chellie had to get off and walk for a bit. So at this juncture,
we hung a left toward Ward. We made it to Sawmill road and stopped to smell the flowers.
And instead of continuing on to Ward, flipped it back around and up to Gold Hill.

It was a fun and refreshing ride. To recover from it, Beth made some proscuitto wrapped chicka boom boom and sent me on my way with some venison. Yummay.
